IPEDEC was created in 1987 by the Paris Painting and Decorating Employers' Federation. Located in the very near suburb of Paris, the School enjoys 8,000 square meters fully equipped premises to meet the training requirements needed by people working or willing to work in this particular field. IPEDEC has a team of about 20 teachers mastering educational methods for adults and also working part time outside the School, thus still practising the techniques they teach.
The training on Decoration Painting is framed to suit all kinds of students ; it is a 5-month full time course based on the teaching methods which have built up the School's reputation worldwide and made it become the leading European School teaching this special branch of art. The programme of training includes the technique of interior decoration painting, the preliminary preparation, the knowledge of working material, the tools required in this specific field and the protective methods used after completing a decoration. The main subjects touch on wood and marble imitation performed in real size and dimension, marking work - filet, braid ... -, patina work, moulding imitation, leaf gilding, mural - trompe-l'oeil, panorama, fresco, ornamentation ... -, stencil, transfer decoration, lacquer work technique and the use of airbrush. The programme of theoretical teaching consists of courses in style and colours, technique, art and perspective drawing.
